One Legged Seagull

Or Scam Artist!

He totally had 2 legs and was hiding one tucked up...somewhere!

We stood there taking pictures, feeling so sorry for the poor thing. And then it took flight and the missing leg dropped down into place and away he flew.

Faker!

Me too as it turns out.
Purl & Prejudice: it was an honor to be among fastest slow pokes in this year's Sock Madness!

Here is the progress picture of where I quit! I'll change the pattern to do a 2 color heel, repeat the leg chart once in reverse and then knit a plain foot.

Looks like YarnWhisperer will represent our team for the final 4 and I will cheer her loudly...glad to be out mad sock knitting mode. Until next year?

The madness continues

On to ROUND 6?
Or not...

I finished my 5th pair of socks since March 19th. Sock Madness is down to the final 16.

Sweet 16!
And I'm still in it?

Next pattern comes out Wednesday night between 8 pm & midnight. I'm NOT a night person so I doubt I'll be knitting before my first cup of coffee on Thursday.

Thursday is also my birthday.

I'll be 50. Holy Crap!!
(Several other words come to mind but I'll refrain.)
As of now... I'm not planning on spending it sitting inside knitting all day.

More puzzle pieces have been finished.
My current obsession is perfecting my bullion stitches.
I'm more in the mood to embroider than knit.

And I'm old enough to do what I want!

Sunset Grazing

Fabric Postcard experiment
(Sunset fabric postcard - Version 2.0)

Felt like "something was missing" or perhaps it was just too simple - or maybe I'm just too used to adding quilting or seed beads to blank spaces.

So a recent Blog visit to the designer of the tatted giraffe happened to have this picture of her giraffe, I was reminded of a long ago plan to make a bookmark with mine.

I made a new giraffe - several trial & error rejects as I relearned needle tatting. I had 10 backgrounds painted and ready to embroider the leaves for a swap so I experimented with the giraffe on one of them. Suits my NEEDS MORE syndrome.

Also experimented using Flickr account to upload pictures here.
Let's see how that works now that I've edited a plain text message...
I think I might like the change! Have to edit after 1st round of publishing blog post but easy. Once I figured it out.

Madness has its own reward.

I won a prize this round!

Seen here is the skein of yarn with MY name on it :)
Isn't it pretty?

Meanwhile...
I've been making Fabric Postcards during the lull.
Just what I needed! Very relaxing.
I'm pushing myself to try new-to-me embroidery stitches.

I bought Needle Lace & Needleweaving by Jill Nordfors for like $6 including shipping. Decided I would buy it the instant it arrived from a lending library.

It's that awe inspiring.
I have a Sunset themed Fabric Postcard Swap to finish as well as an Underwater theme to get mailed out. My partner for the Underwater theme went above & beyond. I may have to send her 2 cards to be worthy of this swap!

It's Madness, I know

On to Round 5!

Sock Madness 3
Round 5 up next?
It's the farthest I've ever made it.
"If I take one more step, it'll be the farthest away from home I've ever been."
Lord of the Rings!!

Thank you luck of the draw.
I'm in one of the slightly slower divisions.
Purl & Prejudice

Or as I dubbed it halfway through 2nd sock:
Pride & Perseverance
I will finish.
5th from last as near as I can tell.
(Just this once I wanted to make it one step more :)

Wasn't sure I could force myself to sit knitting for this one. Sunny days and gardening.

Plus a nephew turned 2 - so there was partying to do!

Here he is escaping. He seemed to have had enough with the partying and just wanted to go outside. Marched to the door and let himself out halfway through present opening. A promise of a cupcake got him to turn around and go back in.

I've about knit myself into "never want to knit again" state so not expecting to get beyond the next round.

But I did it!
One step more than ever before.
